Costumes
I photographed some great costumes at Ropecon. See whole set from Flickr.
Key light = BD camera right. Have to use my silver beauty dish at least once per year and the light from it is just perfect and flattering when shooting zombies, roasted soldiers, monsters etc :) BD is also more wind resistant than 5' octabox or big umbrella.
It is all about details and trying to create the right mood whatever is the location. Robert is pulling the soldier's sleeve over colourful convention wristband which is annoying detail in many of this set's photos (like in this one). I would have wanted to remove all of them in the editing phase, but doing that to all photos.. I would be still doing the editing..
If you are photographing events and promise to send photos for people you photographed, it is good to know that sending the photos and answering to tens of mails will take almost as long as editing the whole image set ready. One the good side, you will get lots of new contacts for possible future shoots and opportunity to fine tune the image delivery workflow.
